Minor bug, sure, but I'm curious if it's possible to avoid this. I often play music on iTunes when editing if I'm working only with visual stuff and not listening to sound but when Vegas opens it makes the iTunes go silent and keep playing (silently) until I close and reopen. I believe all versions do this. Similarly, when watching Netflix or a video then opening Vegas as soon as it does the video stops (netflix gives an error). I have to refresh.

1) Use your smart phone or iPad for music.
2) Use another Windows machine for music.
3) Buy a radio.
4) Play your music in Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player is not interrupted by Vegas on my machines.
Interesting. Same issue with Windows Media Player. Guess it's a problem with my videocard or soundcard, but it happened on both my computers so actually it must be a setting somewhere.
You see, programs using Windows Mapper (like QT or WMP)compete for audio drivers when any other sound application, is open, even changing the sample rate and bit depth to their own needs. Unfortunately, they are dedicated, not shareable.
In Vegas properties, choose ASIO-only audio drivers and see if that makes a difference. I'm guessing it will, even to the point of reducing latency and allow real-time record monitoring.
Or play your music on your i-Thingy.
