Painstakingly moving clips to the beginning, is there a better way?

Hello, I'm fairly new at editing and there's something bothering me. Is there any way to move my clips to the beginning instead of dragging them to the beginning. Is there a button/technique I can press/use to move the clips to the beginning of the timeline?

Thank you.

Rename the clips to load in the order you wish -- file000, file001, etc. and bring them in all at once.

Thank you, but I'm not sure that's what I meant. Let's say that I have a long video and I go almost to the end of this long video and split a part of it and then want it to be in the beginning. Is there a way to make that split part of the long video, go to the beginning of the timeline without having to drag the split clip all the way to the beginning?

Ctrl-X , and then Ctrl-V.

The other way is to make use of Trimmer: put the long clip to Trimmer, select the end part, then drag that selection to main timeline.

It all depends on what you have on the timeline. For example, if you have a single video clip, with space before the beginning of the timeline, double click in the empty space so that it highlights the blank space. Then press delete on the keyboard.

However, the solution for you might be to ensure that auto-ripple is turned on. Split the clip as desired and then delete the part that you don't want. With auto-ripple enabled, your latter part of the clip will move earlier in the timeline. If it is not enabled, it stays where it was (but the first part of the clip is still deleted).

Your method worked perfectly! Thank you so much!

Thank you, combined with Ctrl-X and then Ctrl-V everything became much easier. Thank you!!!
