Possible to de-interlace within the timeline?

Pretty much all of my videos on my PC I use for editing are de-interlaced but some are not. And so right now I have to re-convert some clips with this or another program. Is there an easier way like say it's on my timeline then clicking a button somewhere rather then re-converting that clip then re-inserting into my timeline again? Thanks.

Well, Draft Preview Quality is deinterlaced, but it;s soft and don't rescale the preview size because it makes it look even worse.

If your preview isn't a concern, just set Project render quality to Best, Choose Blend or Interpolate as your Deinterlace Method, and set Render Properties to Progressive. That fixes everything, mixed interlaced and progressive alike.

Hope this answers your question.

K a bit confused. yea noticed this with the preview window before as I use best now but the original clip itself in interlaced and will show on final render. Wanna know how just to de-interlace a single clip and not have that effect on the whole timeline video.

Within Vegas 14 and above, you could use Smart Adaptive De-interlacing

or you could use the Yadif plugin as a Media fX

Outside of Vegas, you have more options, but they will likely involve "re-converting that clip then re-inserting into my timeline again".

OK thanks, I will try those. If not then I will continue using the same method. Not the biggest issue in the world. Appreciate it.

Isn't there a Yadif plugin for deinterlacing events?

The same Yadif plugin will work as an event FX.

Will try this evening after work but it seems like it'll definitely work 🙂
