Problems with stills in Vegas Pro 16

GaryX wrote on 10/27/2019, 1:41 AM

Hello,

i made a Video from our vacation and inserted some stills, everything seems ok till render is finished. When i simply overlap 2 Images for about 1 sec in the final file you see blinking from 1 Picture to the other several times (Ghosting look)! I tried nearly everything and found out These things:

- it has nothing to do with GPU acceleration (tried it on/off)

- it doesn't matter if the stills are jpg or png.

Rendering with 2 different Codec Selections also make it different,

- Magix AVC all stills have this Problems

- Magix HEVC only the last Image in the Project at the End is damaged and not rendered correctly.

The stills are created in Vegas with Screen-capture, so all Images have the Video Resolution.

Video is 3840x2160; progressiv, 50,000 fps, 8bit, resampling disabled.

Is it a known Problem or anyone has a tip for me? Thanks

Can you give screenshots of your used(customized ?)templates of those codecs?

everything else renders correct, only Problem with Images.

Thanks for the screenshots.
I'm seeing the same on laptop, latest Studio driver for the Nvidia is installed.
I have also there 2 other codecs with the same template, but with QSV or/and Mainconcept.
There no problems only the render takes much longer.
Problems exists also inVP 17, but only on laptop with 2 installed GPU's.
On desktop no problem with only the Nvidia installed.

Try turning off GPU rendering.

+1. Seen this kind of thing before from hardware (NVENC, VCE) encoders in various NLE's

I just finished a video where I have over 100+ images together on the timeline. I rendered out using AMD VCE and experienced none of what I see in the video above.

👍

I figured a bit around about this issue and discovered that also only switching off hardware acceleration of the Nvidia helped.
I get a very good result with very high definition pictures with transitions rendered to Magix AVC 3840x2160 with NVenc, customized to max 20 and average 10 Mbps bitrate.
You should also can try this, render velocity stays high compared to Mainconcept and QVC.

I had a recurring issue when fading a title page to black with Magix AVC/ NVENC and Intel encode. With Mainconcept encode was OK. However I discovered it was the player(s). Both the Windows MediaPlayer and MPC (Media Player Classic) exhibited the abnormality, VLC & QT did not. The Mainconcept encoded file was fine on all.

that was the first i tried to disable GPU acceleration and it didn't fix the Problem. I only have around 8-10 Pictures in the Video, total lenght of about 30min. This Picture Problem was new to me, i use vegas since v11 but never had something like that before. Is Vegas Pro 17 still compatible with win 7?

Officially it needs Windows 10 following the specs, but I think that if you use to install it in compatible mode of Windows 7 it runs good.
In could install on my Windows 10 latest build all my old Vegas versions from 8.1 to the last ones in compatible mode and these work all fine.
