I am unable to open MOV files in Vegas 12. When I bring it in to the time line the audio shows up but not the video.
This on a new computer but it works fine on the old computer.
I do have QuickTime 7 install.
Can you open the files in the QuickTime Player and do you see video. If yes then open the Inspector windows (Ctrl+I) and see what codec the video uses. Check on your old computer too. The old computer must have this codec installed and the new computer probably doesn't.
For example: Avid DNxHD is a QuickTime codec that you must install separately. If you have it installed on your old computer and not your new computer you would get audio with no video just like you are seeing so check the codec and make sure it's installed on the new computer.
FWIW, the reason you get audio without picture is that two codecs are involved in the playback of most video media. A video codec and an audio codec. For example, the audio in a video file could be encoded as mp3 audio. This is why the audio plays when the video doesn't.
When audio plays but video doesn't it's usually a sure sign that you're missing the video codec.
Unless I render my FCP projects as ProRes422 I have the same problem.
How can we get vegas to read more of the Apple files.
Vegas reads EX1 video fine but when you render in Apple as a EX1 file it becomes
wrapped in a Mov file and Vegas wont read that.???
ANy Suggestions?

I have Movie Studio Platinum 15 and Quicktime Pro 7 installed on my computer. When I add an mov file to the program the sound is now a hiss. I get the video but only hissing for sound. What is strange, I have no problem opening the mov files in my older version of Movie Studio Platinum 13. It must be a setting in MS 15? can anyone help? Thanks!
