render directly to odd size without janking up the video?

I believe this has been covered so if you know where feel free to link the post. I didnt know what to search for.

I want my final rendered output to be 2.40:1 aspect, no black bars, but currently everything on time line is 16x9 with black bars.

Is there a way to set render stage to 3840x1600 (instead of x2160) and NOT shrink the video in on all sides WITHOUT going back and changes ratios for each individual clip? I know altering each clip settings can achieve this.

Also aware I can just render 16x9, then pull that in and reader to 2.40:1.

Guessing there a super easy setting I am overlooking. I've tried a few different ones, unlocking aspect, do not adjust, etc but doesn't seem to work.

Thanks!

This is where a good script is your friend. Shop around.

It's so easy...

... even I can do it.

tried that. if I change it, the video resizes leaving black frame all the way around

I'd create a new project with required aspect ratio, put on timeline current project (nesting) and do the pan/crop on the single event.

Another option that I would try -- add Crop FX as Output FX.

If all else fails or becomes too cumbersome, you can try RenderPlus in HappyOtterScripts. It's still in beta until 15 Jan.

tried CROP FX but didn't seem to accomplish anything. I'm probably doing it wrong. It's simple enough to rerender in cropped right, just hoping for a one stop setting without scripts.

If you precisely follow @john_dennis demo above, it WILL work. Unfortunately, Vegas does not permit a very "simple" way of cropping the output of an entire project AFAIK.
