Rendering does not export in the resolution I specify.

grandc wrote on 4/8/2022, 5:15 AM

I shot footage in 6K at 5952x3968.

When I select 'Render As,' I select MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 and set the resolution to 4096x2160

The final product always renders in 3632x2432.

WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

What possible reason could there be for the program rendering my project in a completely arbitrary resolution that I did not specify? This is absolutely inexcusable in my opinion - no bugs of this magnitude ever presented in older versions of Vegas.

So what do I do? Switch software?

Would you please advise what version and build of Vegas Pro that you are using, and would you please take screenshots of the Project Properties window as well as the Render template's Custom Settings window and upload them to this thread via the upload icon in the task bar at the RH top of the Comment window when you start a new comment to this thread.

If you are using a hardware encoder (QSV, NVENC, AMD), you are limited to the resolutions supported by that hardware manufacturer's predetermined templates. Magix has no control over your hardware manufacturer's specifications, and you have no option to customize them.

The native Magix AVC software encoder has no such limitation that I am aware of.

Go MAGIX HEVC/AAC, the only codec supporting FUHD in 4/5/8k in VEGAS pro19.

@grandc Hi, I don't have 6k footage so i filmed 50secs of 8k

I converted that to 5952 x 3968 using Vegas - Magix HEVC

then rendered @ 4096x2160 with Magix AVC

As @Dexcon requested can you post screen shots of your render settings.

Former user wrote on 4/8/2022, 2:23 PM

@grandc Think i've worked it out 👍 I left the settings as above Magix AVC 4096 x 2160.

but i ticked the 'Allow source to adjust frame size' box

the resulting rendered file is 3632 x 2432 like yours

@Former user ...

 I left the settings as above Magix AVC 4096 x 2160. but i ticked the 'Allow source to adjust frame size' box

I thought it was going to be that or a similar setting in Project Properties, so well done on testing this 👌👍👌.

Unfortunately, the OP hasn't as yet provided images of those windows from his project.
