Arthur-Stoller wrote on 7/13/2019, 7:49 AM

Hi

I have a 122 mb video edited in vegas mivie studio
but when i come to render, or make mp4 movie,
the file size jumps up 770mb

How can i get something more workable for web viewing
I would expect 30/40/50 mb
Video only runs 8 mins.

I chose HD1080 25p fro the render

Thanks

Art

Your output file is rarely the same size as your original video. There are many variables involved. I don't know how long your original video is or what device recorded it, but it could be using any number of compression systems.

770 mb is not terribly large for a movie. A HD MP4 at 25 fps is perfect for loading to YouTube. YouTube will re-encode it to make it a more efficient streaming file, as it does anything you upload to it.

Hi Steve,

The video runs 8 mins
Also the preview is only filling 30% approx, of preview screen
How can i make it fill it? I think it is affecting quality of final render whch is low quality

thanks

It's because you didn't set the bit rate

set it to 7Mb and you will be more than OK.

I ran media info and got this below.
But window size is too small and quality of render is very poor

My selections on the render were:
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks

Your capture was at 1280 x 720 at 192 Kbps.

That's too low to do anything with. Sorry.

Best you'll get is from the 720p Internet preset, and that will probably be larger than the original, but with nothing to gain.

Like @Musicvid said your projectfile has a very low bitrate and that means no quality for that kind of file with 1280x720 pixels
For seeing your preview in total your projectsettings have to be as follows

For rendering you should choose the following screen with the customized template to get the same quality and possible filesize in VMS 16, but maybe better is for this case of a bad sourcefile is to choose half bitrate of that default ( not customized) template:
