Rendering to 1080x1920

RgVideo wrote on 1/27/2021, 5:17 PM

Note: Using MSP16-b167

I have an action camera that produces 1920 x 1080 video. Sometimes I rotate the camera to record portrait mode. I rotate the clip in MSP so it renders in 1080w portrait. I haven't been able to find a rendering setting for that (i.e 1080X1920),  I ended up using MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 customized to 1080X1920, but there is no way to save this as a custom.  Therefore, I have to remember to create the customized setting each time I want it.

1)  Is there a way to save custom settings for this category (MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4)?

 2) Is there already a standard setting for what I want someplace that I have missed?

Thanks,

Ralph

When you customise the template isn't there a save button at the top of the window? BUT you need to give it a name before saving as VMS won't save an existing template. Usually you get a warning telling you that.

As @EricLNZ points out, you must give a custom preset a unique name before saving it with the little icon.

That's so you don't overwrite one of the stock presets.

Thanks for the comments. I went back and rechecked what I did, but found the same thing. MAGIX AVC/AAC does not provide for saving a custom template.  It keeps the same template name, but puts an asterisk after it in the list.  See the first two screenshots.

I selected SONY AVC/MVC instead and I was able to create a custom template. Before it wouldn't render without giving an error. However, this time it worked okay. So now I have something I can save. I probably started from a different template this time than the other times. See  the next two screenshots.

This forum is super helpful!

Couldn't figure out how to post multiple pics, so here's the other MAGIX screenshotl Forget the SONY one, since it worked.

@RgVideo
I see you're using the Platinum version of VMS 16.
For me no problem to make there and use such a saved template for rendering with Magix AVC, look

Thanks for trying it on your system. I'm using Build 167, because I'm still Win7. What's your build?

That must be the reason it works on your system and not mine. I tried your build quite a while ago and had problems on Windows 7. Thanks for helping me find the reason for my problem. 😃

There no difference in the use and saving of render templates between Windows 7 and Windows 10. Platinum offers saving of own templates for both OS.

But your low resolution display cuts-off the upper part of the render window with the saving option.

Glad I could help you for that, but my advice is not to stay with Windows 7, most newer programs need Windows 10 and some older programs you can use there and sometimes need to be installed in the compatible mode for older Window installs like I do for my Vegas 10 f.i.
