[Resolved] Can't import 4k mp4 files

barrym07 wrote on 12/6/2017, 3:06 PM

Hello,

I'm trying to import some 4k footage in mp4 format for editing in VMS 14 Platinum Build 148. I was getting an error before but after doing some research on here it said I needed to download Quick Time. I did that but now it is saying "This file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format". I can open and view my file just fine using the default media player on Windows 10.

I changed the recording resolution to 1080/60 and it shows up just fine. One thing that I noticed is that it won't provide the information when I try to import it but it will show the information on the 1080/60 file. It keeps saying file type unknown.

Do I need to use a different software to change the format? All of the other videos that I have made have been 1080/60 and in mp4 format.

Thanks

-Barry

VMS cannot handle HEVC video (Codec H.265).
You can use VPro 15 or convert the HEVC Mp4 to AVC ( Codec H.264) with most preferred CFR and CBR

Thank you for that information. I was able to convert the video using RMMC, other software that I tried wouldn't keep it at 4k 60fps.
