Slow Multicam Audio Sync

Hi. Newbie to Movie Studio 16 Platinum Build 175 here. I purchased this package to get DVD Architect to use with another editor. However, I'm giving Movie Studio a try to take advantage of the better integration with DVD-A that it offers. I do a lot of multicam editing and use audio sync to an external audio file most of the time. I am following these steps:

I add video from Camera 1 to a track at the beginning of the timeline. It's about 34 minutes long.

I add video from Camera 2 to a track immediately below Camera 1's track at the beginning of the timeline. It's 23 minutes long.

I add the audio file to a Music track at the beginning of the timeline. It's about 80 minutes long.

I selected all the tracks and chose the option to Synchronize Audio to Align Events under Tools/Multicamera.

After letting the sync process run for about 20 minutes, I cancelled the operation because it was only at about 8% completion. This is unacceptable performance to me, comparing it to other editors I've used. Is there anything I can do to speed up this process? Pertinent hardware specs are as follows:

Intel I7-7700 CPU
8 gb RAM
Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
OS and program on 256gb SSD
Data files on internal 1TB HDD
Windows 10 Home Version 1909 fully updated

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Barry

Sounds about right to me.

If you are trying to synchronize long clips, it is suggested that you only select a small amount of the clips, which you know to have audio data to synchronize to and then analyze that section. The end result will move the entire clip if matching is found.

Thanks to both of you. I'll give VEGASDerek's suggestion a try.
