Disclaimer: I don't expect to get any help on this one since I'm not providing the "required" information. Plus, I've since uninstalled the program.
OS: Windows 10 1909
Hardware: Asus MB, Intel i9, 32GB Ram, Nvidia RTX series video
Program: Vegas Pro (edit) 18 Trial (All Default Settings)
Problem: Corrupted (?) truncated, sometimes pixelated MPG 2 videos upon import
I found that some (short < 3 minute) mpg (mpeg 2 files), do not import correctly using VP18 edit. This does not happen with Vegas Movie Studio 16 or VP9. When I imported them and dragged them to the timeline, the first few seconds appeared to be from the end of the same video. Then the normal start of the video was truncated by roughly the same amount (essentially paste and cut in). On some of these videos, there was obvious pixilation in places. I tried repeating the process with several different files by either importing and the dragging to the timeline or directly dragging the file to timeline.
I could not see that there was anything unusual with the properties of each video (Format, Resolution, Frame Rate, Wrapper, Codec, Bitrate...etc). In fact, out of the ten or so I tested, there were only 3. I had no other format issues, such as MP4/H264/AAC.
I was pretty excited to go with VP18, but this particular issue makes it difficult to use without re-encoding the problematic videos.
Thanks for reading this.
Mike
