Stop Where I AM!

Natsbar wrote on 4/17/2021, 8:20 PM

Vegas Movie Studio. Version 17 (build 204) - I'm running Windows 10, with lots of everything.

I want to be able to stop my project as it is playing, and have the curser STAY where I stopped it, NOT jump back to where I started the clip. Most frustrating and time consuming. There may be a point where I want to edit, I find it and I hit the space bar to stop, but it goes back to the beginning of the track, because I happen to start there. This makes me have to find that edit point AGAIN. I HATE this function. How do I make it stop?

I have gone through the manual and still cannot find how to turn this function OFF. It's probably a simple button.... but I can't find it. Can it be turned off?

Please help

Nats

Hit ENTER instead.

Breathe out. Just hit the Enter button.

If you want to use the Spacebar, change the hotkey.

Start here for basics. Then ask if searching doesn't find you the answer.

Funny, I had this same "issue" and thought checking that box would solve it. Checking the box didn't reverse the behavior—it stayed the same (VMS 17 Platinum; build 221). Every other major NLE and DAW on the market uses the same method for timeline-pausing: space-bar pauses, hitting space-bar again plays from pause-point. Why Vegas chose not to make this the default behavior is a curious choice.

It solves it (as it always did in all versions of VMS I had): hitting spacebar to play/pause.

Oh, duh! It works! I guess I didn't hit "apply" and the checked option never took effect. Whew! Super-happy about this!
