Stuttering in playback

Stockwell wrote on 4/10/2020, 5:29 PM

I just upgraded to Movie Studio 16.0 Platinum. My biggest problem is the audio playback. The music track skips, stammers, cuts out, jumps back and forth. It really sounds terrible. In the Preferences menu, the Audio Device is Microsoft Sound Mapper. I haven't made any changes to anything. I'm running Windows10 and, until the upgrade, never had this problem. Help!

Have you only got music on your timeline? What format is the music in?

Instead of Mapper, use the ASIO driver for your audio device in Vegas Preferences.

It may say Direct, 3d, or HD Audio, but it won't say Microsoft. Post back and let us know if it makes a difference.

Only music - I make silent films; visuals with musical accompaniment. I've tried WAV and MP3 formats for my scores and there's no difference.

I tried switching to Direct Sound Surround Mapper. No change. I've also got the option of Window Classic Wave Driver. Same result. The good news is I've plenty of time to figure this out. It's not as the estate of Stanley Kubrick is involved and has given me a deadline. It's the weekend - there are other things to do.

Any chance your problem is related to this? @Stockwell
