Template match source default

Hello,

I am running into an issue that neither the manual or the forums seem to have an answer to help.

VEGAS Version: 15

Build: 311

I am trying to make a rendering template that makes it so by default it will render using the sources settings. Now I have tried clicking "Allow source to adjust frame size" (which btw is not described in the manual at all to explain the option) thinking that it would work like the "allow source to adjust frame rate" option and just match it.

However when I use it on a video it does not maintain the source frame size. For example if I use a 1280x720 video and have the frame size option at something random below 1280x720 that like 640x480 and I run it the output is 736x416.

Now if I have the frame size option above 1280x720 like 1920x1080 it will make the video at 1920x1080.

I deal with a lot of different frame sizes for videos so it is a real pain to have to change it every single time to match, especially since Vegas Pro knows the sources frame size.

Thanks in advance.

I've never seen any tool that would create custom render templates on the fly. With a simple Right-Click on one of the source files, the Mediainfo application can display all the information that you'll need to create them yourself. Once created, you can save custom render templates...

...to be re-used at your leisure. Once saved that should reduce the frustration of setting render parameters every single time to match

You understand that each resolution will need a separate render to keep each source at it's own size.

Now if you want different source resolutions inside a SINGLE display screen aspect (with borders), that's the easy part. Keep 720 as it is inside a 1080 frame.

Incidentally, the only file playback format that supports multiple source resolutions is optical disc.

So I feel like we are talking about something different here. What I want is the capability to edit a source that has a certain resolution (lets say 1280x720) and to be able to click on my template and render it and it will make the new file with resolution 1280x720. Then I want to be able to make a new video from a different source (lets say 1920x1080) and when rendering click on the same template as before and have the video be made with resolution at 1920x1080.

Now I want to be able to do this without having to go into the template settings each time and change the frame size option to match the source video.

Is that what you thought I was getting at?

You can filter the templates that match your project settings:

I think you want a feature that may be more of a bother for some.

Maybe a good idea for Movie Studio.
