The proper stream could not be found - yet it plays just fine

michael-harrison wrote on 11/18/2020, 11:18 AM

Never seen this before and I've been using MagicYUV for quite some time. Most often without audio but several with, too.

The project loads and all the media play without a problem but every time I open the project I get this message. Every single time. No matter what changes I make.

Ring any bells for anyone? VP 17-452

Out of curiosity, how many streams does Vegas Pro detect in the file?

Right + click on the file and display Properties.

Example:

@john_dennis 2 though the audio stream information looks a bit odd. I'm using the latest MagicYUV 2.3.1

@john_dennis It's odd. I'm tempted to ignore it and keep going but with my luck I'd get to the end of my editing and find out this, whatever it is, will cause total failure and I'll have to start over. Except that this is just an intermediate file I'm working with so generating a new one in a different format won't kill anything.

I actually have seen something "similar" -- it turned out audio was float instead of integer, but didn't seem to affect anything.

john_dennis wrote on 11/18/2020, 7:36 PM

While working on another problem, I was presented with this:

I also noticed that when using Magic YUV RGBA for transparent animation, reversing the video makes the video disappear.

It's probably time to engage with Magic YUV support.

john_dennis wrote on 11/18/2020, 11:42 PM

@michael-harrison @MagicYUV

Further testing with Magic YUV RGBA revealed that Vegas 13-453 through 15-416 does not see the audio track at all. Those versions do allow me to reverse the video track without going blank because the "Media is offline".

Vegas 17-452 sees the audio track but when I reverse the video track, the media goes offline.

Download the file that I used from here for testing:

EDIT:

Uncompressed AVI works properly.

As I see there are two issues here, one is by @michael-harrison which is a warning dialog when opening the project, which causes no issues and the file plays correctly, it's just annoying. Is that correct?

The other issue is by @john_dennis where reversing the file causes it to go offline. It seems I can reproduce this.

@MagicYUV for my issue, yes. So far, just annoying.

@michael-harrison Do you have a sample to share which exhibits this issue, so I can take a look?

michael-harrison wrote on 11/19/2020, 8:46 AM

@MagicYUV I do... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qN-c97hhuFDa_sXqNy08jIm2_IQQFiRy/view?usp=sharing

Should be able to replicate by creating a new project, adding this video, saving, closing the project and when you re-open you should get the message above.

Windows 10
i9-10850K 10 Core

@michael-harrison Thanks, the warning shows for me as well, but to be honest I have no clue why. If I re-encode the video to 1920*1080 then the warning doesn't show, but using any other resolution it shows. Removing the audio track also makes the warning go away.

I have no idea why Vegas considers the media "changed", it seems I have to ask them for more details.

MagicYUV wrote on 11/27/2020, 7:39 PM

@john_dennis I'll also take a look at what could be causing the reverse issue. It has something to do with the plugin obviously, it seems reversing causes Vegas to open the file twice, which shouldn't be an issue, yet it seems somewhere something causes Vegas to think it fails.
