Trying to use a high resolution image/text as an image in Vegas 14

PandaBot2001 wrote on 5/22/2022, 5:50 AM

I made a huge image (3Kx10K) to make a scrolling text box easily in Vegas 14, but when it's in the editor and after rendering, it looks like this. Any idea how I can fix it or make scrolling text in Vegas easily, because this bibliography is massive.

Here's what I'm talking about:

Here's the bibliography if you want to know why I'm using an image:

In a photo editor, create your image at precisely your video project and display dimensions (and aspect). That is called "optimal" and requires no further processing. Downsampling a high resolution image for video use is not "better," and legibility is determined only by output and display conditions.

I can't do it exactly to the video display and aspect. The bibliography is massive, like, it will not fit on a 1920x1080 display. Thats why it was so high res, to have the length. I tried a 1920 width (keeping aspect ratio of the original image so it was still quite long) and it just looked even worse.

@PandaBot2001, you can put images directly in the post without needing to use links.

Could you post the image you are using with the titles?

An image the 1920 wide by however tall should not look "worse" as you're shrinking the 3K down to 1920 anyway.

I copied the text and just placed it into Titles and Text. I had to reduce the font size to about 6 to get a reasonable size but it can be scrolled using keyframes.

Heh, I see @jetdv beat me to it again.

I didn't get it that you had the text available, so why again are you using an image?

Paste the text in Vegas Titles and Text, at least 6 pt. sans serif, and add line breaks as needed (or just delete the hyperlinks?). Scrolling is easy as pie.

Done.

How you do the scrolling?

If you are using track level motion, it is going to be blurry.

But if you are using Event Pan & Crop, it should be sharp. (Don't forget to do right click on the box outline in the event pan & crop to match to output aspect ratio first!)

Minute 2:50 - the credits roll is a PNG image scrolling of 1920 x (height as needed)

Also, it looks like your purplish overlay is on a track above the text. It goes the other way around.
