First of all, use the search function of this forum by entering your title.
You will get a lot of information.
If you can't do anything with it either, describe exactly what happened before you got this error message and give us a lot of information about your system.

A Google search of the error code shows that this error code has been around for many years and the common suggestion is that it usually relates to problems within the computer or OS (e.g. a faulty driver, a corrupt registry file, damaged RAM, etc). There is nothing to suggest that this error code occurs with any particular software like Vegas Pro. The following is a link to Microsoft's Community page re that error code and what to do to check for any corrupted system files:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/application-error-0xc0000005/6224ae45-a251-4f21-b076-74524618d00a

Also, perhaps use the forum's search facility to search for 0xc0000005 - there are many hits but without any one particular solution. You'll need to see if any of the suggestions work for you -https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum-search/?query=0xc0000005

Last year it was fixed for me by uninstalling the last Microsoft Security update, and letting it reinstall itself over time. Not a solution for every cause and every case.

Thank you for responding:

cpu INTEL i9-9900 3.60 GHz, 32GB installed ram, Win10 64 bit, updated, NVidia Geforce RTX 2070. Vegas opens properly. Timeline is working properly and i can edit. Project is about 60min. long. Mixed media video and photos. I have scanned media in files on the computer. I would like to add additional photos. When i click on folder to access the photos, i get the Problem Report with the detail listed above. I can add photos from Project media, just cant import new photos

walter-i. wrote on 2/3/2022, 3:48 PM

@Robert-Horner
Are you pulling the photos in through Windows Explorer or Vegas Pro Explorer?
I used to have problems just dragging and dropping files in through Windows Explorer, but since I've been doing it through Vegas Explorer, I've had no problems.

Robert-Horner wrote on 2/3/2022, 4:46 PM

I use the Explorer within Vegas, This was working from the start of my project, and then started occasionally Problem Report. Now, I can't use this method at all. The folder will open, and within a few seconds, Vegas crashes.

Is it happening to all folders or just specific folder?

I have 4 folders, 1-4. 1, 2 & 3, usually can get into and import. file #4 crashes almost immediately when I click on it to open

Musicvid wrote on 2/4/2022, 2:21 PM

When browsing folders the normal way, does it take the green bar forever to go away?

Try 'isolate' (move) that file #4 to other folder and test it again... the problematic video file can also cause VP to crash.

I moved folder to new location. Then, had to relink project photos to project. Still problem reports as before.

Green bar hangs for about 5 seconds at 33%. then quickly opens project completely

Musicvid wrote on 2/7/2022, 9:56 PM

Well, at least Microsoft Security Scan is normal.

Try scanning the drive for errors, and/or trimming it (if it's an SSD).

I want to say thank you to all who offered many suggestions. Ever since i started using Vegas, I was told that almost any kind of media could be used. I have been importing Tiff, png, and jpg images. In continuing to get a solution to this problem of Vegas crashing when trying to import, i removed all tiff's and png files. Then coverted these images to jpg's. No more crashing.

RogerS wrote on 3/9/2022, 9:06 PM

There are different flavors of TIFF with different types of compression. Perhaps some don't work well in Vegas. Haven't noticed it myself.

In my case it was caused by a faulty audio file. When I deleted all audio I was able to render and then replaced audio and it worked
