I switched my second monitor and the laptop so the secondary monitor is now the primary monitor. I then restart Vegas and it starts in the secondary monitor now but it seems like it still thinks it's running on the laptop which due to the large resolution I have to run with 300% scaling. All the fonts and icons are super big except for the dropdown menus and things like preferences box, which are the expected sizes. Vegas is not looking at the display it is being launched on, like it is remembering the first time it was launched on the laptop screen and is confused as to which size things should be. I'll attach a screen shot of Vegas on the "secondary" monitor.

That is what I would expect, since all indications are that you are trying to do your secondary display in Windows, not Vegas.

I suggest you explore "Video Preview on Secondary Monitor," a built-in Vegas function, with which you seem unfamiliar. It has nothing to do with using multiple monitors as a Windows Service. Please go to Vegas Help and type in "Preview Device Tab" to continue, like this:

Thanks for the input but I'm not interested in using the secondary monitor ONLY for the preview window. I want the entire workspace - timeline, trimmer, media window, etc. to be on the second monitor as it is 32" instead of only 13" on my laptop. All the help things I read only talked about setting up the preview window on a second monitor, which I can do but that is not what I'm trying to achieve. Maybe it is not possible.

The teevee I use for extending my Windows desktop when I need it is the same resolution as my main desktop monitor. Sorry I can't help you with that, but do share your solution with us once you find it.

@Don-Pottenger You said in your first post "My laptop has a native display resolution of 3840x2160". You've also told us your display is "13" on my laptop". Maybe I'm missing something but how can 3840x2160 pixels be squeezed into a 13" screen?

Does it help if you set your laptop display resolution to match the resolution of your secondary display?

I might try setting the display resolution to match the second display but I would rather both displays work in their native resolution.

BTW, the laptop is an HP Spectre x360 Conv13-aw0020nr which has a 13.3" display and does have the resolution I quoted above. You can check the specs at https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-spectre-x360-13-aw0020nr

Don, using Windows Display Settings, I quite honestly don't think you can have it both ways.
