Using my own Proxy files in Vegas Pro 17

GeoffreyDean33 wrote on 2/16/2020, 1:52 PM

I find the Proxy files Vegas makes are so rough looking, I can't even tell if the image is in focus without going back and forth between "preview" and "good." I'm able to make proxy files with other software that play great and look great. Is there an easy way to use proxy files in this way?

Vegas proxy files are 720p by default. If you make them 1080p manually as takes using the XDCAM EX35 format they will look better and still render fast.

Consider using Wayne Waag's Proxy Assist from his Happy Otter Scripts. It should give you as much flexibility as you could want.

That looks pretty cool Dennis. Z-cam has software that makes great proxies, I just can't figure out a simple way to switch back and forth or even to replace the proxy with the camera file when I'm done.

Would using "REPLACE MEDIA" be a way to use proxies produced by other software?

Use the swap files command in VegasPro17 to direct Vegas to use your own created Proxies.

@3POINT  From where I can access this command?

@yassera-s

Within Project Media, right + click on the media that you wish to swap and following the bouncing ball.
