Sometimes I transfer 16mm & 8mm films to digital video at the same frame rate as the film (15fps or 18fps) so some of my clients want me to send DNxHD intermediates at the same frame rate as the film vs. adding pull-down & sending 30fps video, etc... Many projects are 2+ hours long but I batch-render each reel's content separately, which are approx. 4 minutes each. When I try to import the (20-40) newly rendered DNxHD onto a separate track, mostly to check for errors & titiles, V16 - V18 lock-up. I can load about 10 of them back into the original project without it locking up, it doesn't matter which 10... And, if I load the very same (20-40) newly rendered DNxHD files into a new project, they load just fine.
I have a 9900K workstation with 64GB of RAM, fast M.2 in RAID0, VEGA64 GPU, etc. The same thing happens on an older Xeon system. Under "Depreciated Features" I checked the "Enable the QT Plugin" otherwise none of my QT files are even recognized. Does anyone know a solution, or is it just Vegas not playing well with QT files, DNxHD, etc? My current solution is to edit using V15 or older since I mostly do exposure & color editing with a lot of basic cuts & splices...
