Hi after latest update of Vegas 17, I am experiencing a strange problem. Once I finish my project and want to close Vegas, it freezes and CPU usage starts to be extremely high.

Attached jpg of service snapshot shows the situation. Also, latest version of Vegas, latest Win10 64-bit, 32 GB RAM, i-7 CPU....

Also here is the VEGAS generated dump, sent to you via program:

Problem Description
   Application Name:    VEGAS Pro
Application Version: Version 17.0 (Build 452)
After some 5 minutes of extensive CPU massage, the Vegas closes. Or, I have to close it abruptly.

After abrupt stop, it will then complain that the project was not saved (not true).

Seems to me this is an issue only after creating rendition of the video. If I open the same file again and close application all is normal.

Advice?

Unfortunately there are cases where VP just isn't stable. Some things to try.

Try:

The recommendations in the FAQ for solutions when VP is crashing.

A driver cleaning http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Make sure your cache folder is clean by deleting everything in  C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\<version #> (delete everything with VP closed and use task manager to make sure it's really gone from memory). The initial startup will be kind of long after this cleaning but once it's up, restart VP. Use task manager to make sure VP is completely gone from memory before starting it back up.

Try these tips too

Disable so4compoundplug.dll if videos are AVC https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/avc-xavc-s-issues-in-vp15-16-try-disabling-so4compoundplug-dll--108345/

Trim your project looking for fx combinations that cause problems.  For example, Picture in Picture and Layer Dimensionality together are lethal on my machine

128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]
