Vegas 18.0 Video File Won't Play After Rendering

Belle wrote on 1/15/2022, 9:14 PM

So, I rendered an hour long video but wasn't satisfied with the final result, so I made some changes and rendered again. However, whenever I try to watch the new video this pops up:

"This file isn't playable. That might be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect, or the file is corrupt."

I hadn't changed any of my render settings. The only differences from the original video was that I changed the color of the text used and trimmed a couple seconds from a clip. I decided to render it yet again but nothing changed. I pulled up an older video, rendered it, and was able to watch just fine. This has never happened before. I'm using Windows 10 on a laptop. Is this a Vegas Pro problem, or something else?

Thanks for the link, I wasn't sure what exactly to include for this. That helps a lot for future reference. I've included screenshots of my system Properties and Render Settings, along with what MediaInfo had to say about the first draft of the video versus the "corrupted" one. I included Sheet and Tree versions of the latter since that was the only way it could be viewed::

@Belle Someone will give you more info but in MediaInfo, if you click View at the top, choose Text,

It'll look like this, right click, select all & copy, you can then paste it in a comment here,

one thing from your pics is, the MediaInfo pic you posted says 29.97fps, your project says 29.97fps also but the render setting that's highlighted is 60i, you want the one above that says Internet HD 1080p 29.97 fps,

If you look at the bottom of this comment, Signature, you can fill yours in by clicking the your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Vegas version, Windows version & system specs, CPU, GPU, RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments & will help people help you 👍

All right, I think I've put in all that's needed. Please let me know if anything is missing, thank you for your help.

Where's the MediaInfo as shown by Gid?

"Please let me know if anything is missing, thank you for your help."

MediaInfo Text View has all the information that others need to help. Text in a Code Block is the neatest way to deliver the data.

Any reason for rendering a progressive project to interlaced? The not playable file has 0 byte file size according your media info screenshots. Do you get an error message when trying to render?

Nothing pops up during the render process, I only run into the problem when trying to watch or email the final thing. Would you mind elaborating on "rendering a progressive project to interlaced?" I haven't heard of that before.

Rendering progressive to interlaced makes no sense, especially when rendering for internet use. Use a rrendertemplate that matches your project. Those templates are marked with an equal sign (=).
