Vegas Crash During Project Work. Even the last saved version is gone.

Im working on a project in Vegas. During render it crashes. It offers to restore the last auto saved version. But i dont want that. I just give cancel because i manual hit save project just before rendering. Still when i open my project file it has none of the changes i made before i hit save MANUALLY. The crash has caused it to lose even my last saved version. What gives ? And whats the point of having a physical save button ?

I f you use default settings (1) your project is saved every 5 minutes.
The last automatic saved file you can find at this location (2)

I dont understand. After a crash. Irrespective of my autorestored project, isnt my project file supposed to have the edit as i had it right up till i hit save manually ? The crash causes my last manually saved version to be not the version i saved.

Like i save a manual version. Irrespective of this vegas is saving an autosave version every 5 mins right ? But if i choose to neglect the autosaved version and go back to the point i saved manually. Its actually one step behind. I dont know if im explaining this properly.

Have you renamed “yourprojectname”.BAK to "yourprojectname-test".veg to see the state of the project immediately before your last manual save?
