Vegas will not load my bandicam recordings

Been-Ashbury wrote on 11/12/2022, 1:29 PM

When trying to import bandicam AVI or Mp4 files into Vegas Pro 17.0 I'm getting an error message that says: "Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files. The file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format."

I've used bandicam before with no issues and haven't changed anything, so not sure why all of the sudden Vegas can't load a file that every other program on my PC can open just fine. I keep my PC and my programs/drivers up to date.

I run on an intel I7 Windows 11 PC - below is the media info for the file Vegas has an issue with:

This isn't the only file it won't open - it's any of my Bcam recordings.

Thanks.

You're not the first; a search of "Bandicam" on this forum will yield plenty of negative reports.

Many of us use OBS with mostly good results, depending of course on sane encoding settings.

In particular, I see your mp3 audio as being troublesome; also, the video may be VFR -- it doesn't say.

As for your existing Bandicam recordings, you can easily convert them to compliant CFR AVC/AAC in Shutter Encoder or Handbrake.

@Been-Ashbury like MusicVid said, your mp4 is not 'legal' for maximum compatibility the audio should be AAC. For your existing encodes can try this settings in ShutterEncoder, it only re-encodes your audio, leaving your video the same quality. Might be all it needs.
