Video gets cut off on the right size of the screen

Yolulu wrote on 3/23/2017, 1:16 AM

It's easier to explain with images

This is a screenshot from Vegas Pro 14 full screen preview screen: http://imgur.com/SJc7Nfc

This is a screenshot from the raw video in Media Player Classic: http://imgur.com/YWigMA9

You can see in the right upper corner using the FPS counter as a guidance that the video in Vegas Pro gets a little cut on the edge

The video resolution is in 1842x1026 and i've tried EVERYTHING, tried making the project 1920x1080, tried using the resolution of the raw video in the project settings etc... Maintain Aspect Ratio, Video Event Pan Crop, nothing works...

I've tested using the same raw video on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 and it was just fine and normal but i can't use Premiere, been using Vegas for ages now...

If anyone know how to fix this please tell me.

You should Match Media Settings in the Project in order to maintain source aspect. It's an icon.

This was one of the first things i tried =/

didn't work, i told you i've tried EVERYTHING related to Match media project, Video Pan/Crop, Resolution etc... Nothing works!

Vegas doesn't crop your video preemptively.

We have found over the past fifteen years that folks who try to match properties manually sometimes don't get everything right. That's why the Vegas and MediaInfo properties are our best troubleshooting tool, next to sitting next to you at your computer.

If you you would like assistance, please follow the link provided, but please don't take it out on your peers.

Here's how I would approach 1842x1026 media that's close to 16x9 Full HD.

Your pixel dimensions and aspect are in agreement. Manual source matching should not be necessary.

Starting with a fresh project, click the Match Media Settings icon in the Project window. Then, choose the file you are importing and click on it.

After rendering, if there is a problem, post MediaInfo for the rendered file as well. If you use pan/crop or track motion, be sure to click Maintain Aspect.

Maybe the problem is with Vegas Pro 14? I didn't have this when i was using Vegas Pro 13, the only problem in Vegas 13 was that some videos only showed a green screen

Musicvid wrote on 3/23/2017, 10:07 PM

My friend,

1920x1080 is not the same ASPECT RATIO as 1842x1026. That is the reason your video is being cropped on the sides, about 9 pixels on each side. THANKS for posting your render properties. You also have the option of rendering with thin black bars top and bottom if you must render 1920x1080 for any reason; however, upscaling is NEVER recommended in a software editor because it degrades quality. Make sense?

You must use the same shape of a rectangle to fill the frame without cropping in a basic project such as yours. Search Wikipedia for the term in CAPS in the first sentence of this post, and Best of LUCK. There is a learning curve with any NLE.

Yolulu wrote on 3/23/2017, 10:34 PM

Even when i render the video in the same ASPECT RATIO as the raw video, the same happens...

This NEVER happened when i used Sony Vegas Pro 13, i have been editing videos for my YT channel since 2013 and this is the first time this kind of problem happened, i'm almost sure that the problem is in Vegas Pro 14

Musicvid wrote on 3/23/2017, 11:27 PM

Please upload a sample video that shows your issue. I don't have Vegas 14 yet, so if you are convinced that is the problem, someone else can test your assumption. Thanks.
