The machine that I am editing on is below:
CPU - Ryzen 9 5900x
MOBO - Gigabyte x570 Aorus Ultra
GPU - Gigabyte RTX 2080ti Tubro OC rev2 11g
RAM - 32gb(4x8gb) 3600 G.Skill ripjaw
Storage Media - WD 12tb 7200rpm hdd.
The video footage that I am editing is 1080p 60fps .mp4 with 6 audio tracks. When I first start the playback of the video in Vegas Pro 20 it will stutter for the first 8-15 seconds before beginning smooth playback. I have tried setting my preview quality from Auto, all the way to quarter and it will still stutter in the beginning. Not sure if it would help, but I have tried it with preview, draft, best, and good, on all of the settings from full to quarter, and I still get stuttering.
This is annoying, but not a big deal until I start to make slices and reordering clips. The stuttering will begin and then stop, then as soon as the play header moves to a clip that was sliced, it will stutter again. I do not have any VFX applied to the shot, just a simple compressor and EQ to the voice tracks. The only thing I can think of is the footage is on a mechanical drive and not an SSD, but this is the only video editor that I've used that has had this issue when viewing footage in the preview window.
I have tried following the advice from about 6 different youtube videos online, from setting OpenCL/GL to false and making the dynamic RAM to be 1/3 of my total amount and I still run into this stuttering. Is there something in my system that is making Vegas Pro 20 stutter this much?
