Video stabilization and motion tracking not working - VP 16 crashes

croudy wrote on 9/1/2018, 3:49 AM

I tried out the new VP 16 (Build 248). Whenever I start analyzing motion of the new video stabilization (used as media fx) it crashes. Doesn't matter what kind of video format or frame rate is used. Same problem when starting motion tracking in new bezier masking tool.

Windows 10 (64 bit) with Radeon HD7870 with AMD Adrenalin 18.8.2 driver. Problem still exists after turning off the gpu accelaration.

Any suggestions?

Open the Project Media pane, right click on the media you want to stabilize, and apply it as a Media Effect. You do this before editing events on the timeline.

VEGAS Stabilize FX does not work if top track is an audio track

I just checked it for the new stabilizer. The known bug is not fixed yet. Maybe that's the cause.

Edit: This bug also affects the new bezier masking tool if used as media fx.

The team is aware of the motion tracking bugs and have been hard at work on addressing them. Hang in there, an update likely isn't too far off. They usually don't make us wait very long for them.

Maybe that's the cause.

No, I tried it with only one video track only.

Open the Project Media pane, right click on the media you want to stabilize, and apply it as a Media Effect. You do this before editing events on the timeline.

I applied it as Media FX as I said.

I have version 361 and it crashes after media Fx video stabilisation applied to a MOV 13min single silent track, only other Fx is colour correction, video is profesionaly scanned cine film at 1920x1080 16p (which definetely need stabilisation) after analysis hits 100% then program shuts down without any error message, If I convert the MOV to 1920x1080 50p using twixtor, render to MOV then use this on the timeline anlysis completes without any issues. It would appear that either the colour Fx or the 16p fps are causing the crash, unfortunately re-rendering brings up noise which is unacceptable.
