Videos automatically trimmed by 2 or 3 frames at the beginning.

SamJoex wrote on 1/5/2018, 10:26 PM

I am an advanced video editor, and I sometimes use already completed videos (usually intros and outros) in my projects. However, whenever a video is imported into VEGAS Pro 15 Suite, I've noticed that a couple of frames are trimmed in the beginning. This is a bit problematic, as the sound in the removed frames is also removed, making the intro/outro sound incomplete at the beginning. In VEGAS Pro 13 Edit and Sony Movie Studio 13 Platinum Suite, this problem didn't exist, so is there a way to disable this auto-crop feature in VEGAS Pro 15 Suite? If not, then I guess I'll need to add a couple of empty frames at the beginning of my intros and outros.

Please post Mediainfo report for your source files.

Also, could you upload a sample file to a cloud share site and post the link here?

”If not, then I guess I'll need to add a couple of empty frames at the beginning of my intros and outros.”

Another option is to continue to use Vegas Pro 13 or investigate how Vegas Pro 15 handles the files if you render to an uncompressed format from Vegas Pro 13.

@john_dennis + 1 .

Does your Project Settings match your Imported Media? Is QtoF engaged?

@Grazie

Does your Project Settings match your Imported Media?

Yes.

Is QtoF engaged?

If QtoF = "Quantize to Frames", then yes.

Not quite what I asked. We're they shot with a camera or computer generated.

Some ts files from video cameras record corrupt frames at the beginning, thus my question is not random.

They were computer generated. The 2–3 frames at the beginning of the videos in question are also present on their own, but are auto-trimmed in VEGAS Pro 15 Suite.

Here is one of the videos in question:

And here is the video being used in another video (go to 0:07; notice how the sound is clipped at the beginning):

Maybe you understand not what the question was, that was a piece of video you are using. This is a video uploaded and converted by YT. This one is not to use, because I think it's a flash file.

I don't use the uploaded video file. I use the original MP4 file.

Which one you uploaded to YT and that one is converted by YT

look

I just said that I don't use YouTube's version of the file. I use my original mp4 video file. I always keep my original video files on my computer.

And the problem is visible not only after rendering (or after uploading), but also during editing. The original MP4 files are fully complete. My issue seems to be some weird auto-trim feature (like the auto-fade feature when you trim an audio event) that I wish to disable.

@SamJoex The forum re-encodes videos when they are uploaded, like YouTube does. Some other cloud services you could post to, besides Dropbox, are Google Drive, OneDrive, mega.nz, wetransfer.com and mediafire.com .

Failing that, at least please post MediaInfo & Vegas file properties.

You might also care to read this, which might solve your issue if your source media is AVC or XAVC-S and being read by so4compoundplug.dll.

SamJoex wrote on 1/10/2018, 3:21 PM

So I did some testing and found that no video frames were removed upon rendering or loading the rendered video. It appears that the sound is adjusted to occur a few frames sooner, so it could be an auto-sync feature.

For my last time: You did not publish here your original file, you published here a YT file that was converted by YT from your original file. With that file we cannot test because therefore you have to upload the original file to a cloud service as Dropbox a.s.o. from where we can download your original file.

Oh. Sorry for misunderstanding.

OP refuses to post either MediaInfo or upload an original file--but instead repeats the same tap dance again and again. Definitely something OP does not want us to know--

No information, no help. It's that simple. No thanks for wasting my time.

I do not wish to install a program that I would likely only use once, mainly because installing programs tends to clog up Windows and make it slower. I would only install programs that I would find useful.

I also do not wish to upload an original video file for fear that someone else might reupload it and claim it as their own. I've already had that happen to me several times. I also do not have any other uploading platform than YouTube.

Well, now at least we could try to rebuild something similar. So I rendered a file like the ones above and re-imported into Vegas Pro 15. And yes: The audio now is 1.5 frames sooner (25 milliseconds).

If it really is that 1.5 frames audio shift which annoys you then disabling the So4 Compound Reader will help. To disable follow Nick's description.
