VP11 vs VP12-19 - select all files in a folder. PLEASE FIX!

pierre-k wrote on 8/7/2020, 3:30 AM

Hi gentlemen.
In another discussion of Auto ripple issues, I came across this thing by testing VP8/10/11/12

Method:
Use File / Open to open a folder, and select a folder with many video files. For example, 50 or more. Use CTRL + A to select all and wait for them to be selected.

In the old versions, it's perfect. Instantly and without Vegas freeze.
In versions 17/18 long with occasional freezing.

Here are the examples.

VP 10

VP12

VP17/18

The comparison shows that in VP12 the delays start to be longer.
Can you confirm this behavior?
Thanks.

I do have something similar in VP13, VP15, VP17.

VP12 is less affected in my case as well.

However, the difference in my case not as big as on your video. May be just a few more seconds. It is possible that this depend on media I have (I have m2ts from Panasonic X920) or CPU (Ryzen 3700X).

Similar issue with Import dialog was discussed in the forum for quite a few times already.

In my case delays while selecting all files in the Import dialog is much higher and VP12 is also affected the same way.

This bug is still not fixed. I have 15.000 png images that I want to tag at once and I have to wait 15 minutes before that happens. and another 20 minutes are loaded into the Timeline.

I'm sorry, but I don't really imagine professional software like this.

Can you import as an image sequence instead (is this a timelapse)? I recently did that with 800 or so images without any real delay. I've never tried to do that number of files myself.

These are colored images of the film. Vegas is very unstable and has very long delays. I need to load them individually. Not as a sequence.

The biggest problem is selecting a large number of files that I want to open in Vegas.

Select all 15,000 files by pressing CTRL + A

Version differences:

VP11 - approx. 20 seconds VP17 - approx. 10min.

Hi.

Here we are another year and this is still not fixed. Can I ask the developers to fix it once and for all and restore the speed of the software by the time of VP11?

Thanks!

What if you just go to the Explorer tab in VEGAS and select them all there? That instantaneous for me. Then just drag to the timeline.

No thank you. I need it to work classically as it should.

Pierre, I have no doubt you are complaining about "something."

However, it appears you have chosen to open a completely different folder in 17-18 than is shown in your 10-11 example. Therefore, the results you try to convince with are entirely invalid.

If you would care to repeat your tests on a level playing field, I'll gladly have a look and see if I can pin down some of the behavior you describe.

In the meantime, out of respect for your peers and anyone reading your posts, please do not ambush us, thanks.

Are you kidding me???

It doesn't matter which folder you open. Make sure there are lots of files in the folders. Try it yourself first, and then kindly comment something! Do you want to hide the fact that there is no problem, or what?

pierre-k wrote on 8/2/2022, 3:42 PM

Should I send the same folder with files especially for you so you understand what's going on here??

Musicvid wrote on 8/2/2022, 3:45 PM

Now you are being disrespectful, and the answer is no. I was not "kidding," but I no longer have any interest, so best of luck.
