Yes, that is correct. AVC is the worldwide standard for BluRay. The other format that is legal is MPEG-2, and there is a Vegas BluRay template for that, too, but it can be 4-5 times bigger than AVC.

As far as your preview issue, start here:

Try this link: Tutorial by Derek Moran (a.k.a. Dr. Zen). There are others there at his site about burning to either DVD or Blu-Ray.

Your listed computer specs are similar to mine, so unless you have some "over-heating" components, should be fine. If you are expecting a "Fast Render" using the Sony AVC/AAC templates, they are not "hardware accelerated". And yes, it is all on that CPU of yours to do the job. I currently have the i7-6800K, which is the Broadwell-E variant to your Haswell-E processor, of which I did use previously (first one in March 2015).

The link I posted, is for "compressing" down Blu-Ray or DVD file sizes, but his site has other concerning the rendering out to DVD Architect from Vegas Pro or Movie Studio (pretty much not a lot has changed over the past quite a few years, whether owned by Sony, and now Magix). Though Magix would be following the specifications from the Authoritative Tech People.

Hope this helps!
