What video settings for my little "Sports Cam", please?

For our next vacation trip, we will again be using my Sony Camcorder which is set as 50i AVCHD (PAL).

I plan to use the little sports cam (Go-Pro lookalike) for car interior shots, mainly. This cam claims to take 4K video and certainly, on my PC, Vegas struggles a bit with that. My thinking is that I should set the sports cam to match the video from my Sony, as there is nothing to be gained by using a higher quality, given that the final render would be HD. Or am I missing something, please? (My Sony cam also has XSVC S HD available which I have not been using).

Thanks, as ever.

That is the correct approach for editing this time.

There is one potential gain from shooting UHD when you are delivering FHD. That is the possibility of cropping a FHD portion of a shot that wasn't framed perfectly and still having at least 1920x1080 in the final output.

Only you can make a decision about whether it's worth the extra storage and processing demand.

Thanks for the advice. I doubt I will be doing any cropping so the advantages of setting as per my camcorder outweigh that possible advantage.

Thank you.
