Why does pc struggle with movie studio16?

Hello all,

I just installed movie studio 16. But for some unknown reason (at least for me) my pc struggles with it.
I was testing with some simple substitles on a mp4 video. The problem now is like every +- 30sec the program "thinks" and I cant do anything apart from waiting until I can select something again. It even happens when I'm typing the subtitle. It doenst follow my letters, but when it "wakes up" all words are written.
If by chance the preview is playing, it keeps playing but the time line stoped and it jumps in place when "woken up".

It's really anoying and time consuming.

my pc:

  • System WIN10 build 18362
  • Processor    AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor, 3400 MHz, 8 core('s), 16 logice processor(s)GPU
  • GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti version: 431.60
  • Ram memory 16GB

I would think this is good enough to run movie studio 16?

thanks for helping!

Is your mp4 source CPU-intensive?

If I was watching my sourcecontrole while editing I never saw my processor or GPu spike abnormally.
So Im starting to wonder if it's possible that one of the last windows or driver updates could "fight" with Vegas programs? Cause my other heavy programs don't have troubles.

I resist that explanation, although there is obviously something going on with your preview optimization.

If you mute the generated text tracks, does the problem go away?

Your source shouldn't be a problem.
