Why does Sony Vegas make my project (blue)er?

Dandragon123 wrote on 9/11/2016, 1:53 PM

All of a sudden Sony Vegas has started making the colour blue darker. This is really weird and wasn't happening before...

It appears bluer in the viewer and when I render my project. Iv'e tried reinstalling and this still happens, no one else seems to get this problem... Help?

My analysis of your screen shot shows a decline in red and green, the blue channel doesn't appear to be getting hotter.

Have you changed your source video camera or codec, lately? There are differences in the way different codecs and wrappers are decoded, i.e. 000-255 or 016-235.

Check for fX applied to the event or track like Color Curves, etc.

Project Properties?

This is so weird, I have tried colour correction and levels, nothing has worked. I am dragging in video straight from shadowplay. No fx has been applied and yet this still happens. These are my project properties...

Wow ok this is interesting, when I drag my video it returns to normal but when I let go it applies the color options.. Look at this: https://gyazo.com/bfd4009472c7b8ca9b1754f64057a50d

Ok Ive just found a temporary fix, when I double click a track it expands and the colour correction dissapears, im still not sure why this is happening or how to fix it?

Dandragon123 wrote on 9/12/2016, 2:55 PM

Never mind I fixed it, somehow my tracks had a chroma key on them. Whenever I made a new one by default it would have a chroma keyer on it. No idea why but finally this fucking error is gone!

In your video, you can see, that you have some Track Fx and Video Output FX switched on!

my problem was i would make a new track and insert a video yet it would still apply the colour change...

I'm not sure why but new tracks by default have chroma keyer applied to them

I guess it's used as video output fx.

There are four places where effects can be placed (and often forgotten).

  1. The Project Media
  2. The Track
  3. The Event
  4. The Preview (Output) Buss.

They are listed in order of hierarchy. The green symbol is your clue. Best of luck.

If you used Video Output FX (overhead the preview window), all of your tracks/events will be affected, also newly added
