Adobe Assets Compatability with Vegas

BirdDog wrote on 1/10/2023, 12:04 AM

I'm brand new to Vegas and still learning filmography terminology, so let me know, if I need to give more information.

I recently bought some Third-Party Assets for use in Vegas Pro/Adobe Creative Cloud All In One 24+ Graphic & Video Bundles – Graphly from Graphly.uk. One of the packages is "2,500+ FFXs for After Effects," and another "10,000+ Photoshop Actions." Since these packages are for the Adobe Suite, is there any way of making them compatible for Vegas, or do I need to get Adobe to use these assets?

Thank you for your help!

"2,500+ FFXs for After Effects,"

Third party FX will generally work in Vegas Pro if those FX are in the OFX (open standard effects) format. But FX designed in the proprietary FX standard of a particular NLE (e.g. After Effects) would be expected to only work in the NLE for which they have been designed.

"10,000+ Photoshop Actions"

PhotoShop is a raster graphics editor, not a video editor and so wouldn't be expected to work in Vegas Pro. See more about PhotoShop at its webpage.

... or do I need to get Adobe to use these assets?

Yes. But do keep in mind that Adobe products are quite expensive and are available by subscription only. Also, After Effects is an advanced program with a huge learning curve. If you want to get into advanced composite video editing, you might want to have a look at Vegas POST which has Vegas Effects which is sometimes likened as an alternative to After Effects,

Basically, all the packages you bought are geared mainly towards Adobe line of products ... Not Vegas Pro.

Adobe CS2 Suite can still be found for download on the internet. It is mostly compatible with modern OS, but installation is clunky and requires some knowledge of legacy Windows (pre-NTFS 32 bit) structure. It gets the job done, and "may" work with some of your presets. Adobe silently condones its use by nonsubscribers.
