All Videos corrupting on import? (Glitching/Pixelated)

Davo_whitey wrote on 11/18/2018, 8:07 PM

Hi, just recently purchased and installed Vegas pro 16 (Build 307) on windows 10

I have so far tried importing a couple of different files and at various points through the video it has gone corrupt or something causing a weird glitching/pixelation (see attached)
This image is from the preview window under best settings. The glitches do come out on the rendered files too.

The Original Files are fine when played back on media players and show fine in older versions of Vegas.

Been in contact with support but that is a very slow process, taken a week to be emailed back 3 times so looking to here to try speed up the process to finish my job for a client.

Cheers
David

Looks like you are capturing teevee broadcast streams? They are always corrupt. I know how to fix that, but we'll need to see your complete file properties first.

This was recorded at a TV Station yes.

Here is the info from the file

Well that was easy. Download VideoRedo trial and run your file through Quickstream Fix. It may drop a couple of frames depending on transmission quality, but audio sync should be preserved unless you had a really lousy signal.

Great thanks for the info.

I will give it a go and see how it goes.

I am lead to believe it was recorded by the broadcaster themselves and given to the sports club. I would have thought this would be good quality so I might get them to speak to the broadcaster about it in the future.

I have run the file through Quickstream Fix.

It is still pixelating about as much as before processing the file.

Is the video pixelated when you open it in VideoReDo?

Maybe the station recorded the backup on an old tape deck. Or off a bad feed.

Davo_whitey wrote on 11/18/2018, 9:43 PM

It doesn't show any when playing it back on that but this is what i see.

It was recorded on a blackmagic duplicator 4k box.
Which records your input straight to the SD card/hdd.

john_dennis wrote on 11/18/2018, 9:45 PM

Blackmagic Duplicator appears to be a serious device.

Did you receive the file on an SD card?

Is it still on the SD card?

I was also getting the same on a bunch of AVI files which was created from an old VHS transfers.

Davo_whitey wrote on 11/18/2018, 9:47 PM

Hi John,

No they had it on a HDD so transferred it over i think.

If you play the file in windows Film&TV player, vlc etc it plays fine.

Even importing into Premiere it is fine, but I don't use that so am not sure how to do the edits i need outside of Vegas.

What is your G: drive, SSD, spinning hard drive, USB disk, etc?

Musicvid wrote on 11/18/2018, 9:55 PM

Have you tried turning off GPU acceleration in rendering?

Davo_whitey wrote on 11/18/2018, 9:55 PM

I have tried storing and importing the file on both my SSD Main drive and HDD 2nd Drive.
Both with the same results.

Is that the "allow legacy GPU rendering" box in the general tab under preferences?
If so that is already unchecked.

Can you use VideoReDo to trim and post 30 seconds of the file to a cloud share like Dropbox, etc?

Davo_whitey wrote on 11/18/2018, 10:05 PM

hmmm.

I might do a test render of the entire file.

If I stop and jump around the timeline a bit it glitches.
If i back up 30 sec or so,hit play and let it play through it doesn't seem to glitch.

Hold on.

Do you have a Preview problem, a Render problem, a Source Media problem, or a combination of two or more?

Please be very specific -- right now youve got us going around in circles .....
