Bending Text to fit existing graphic (Vegas 16 on Windows 10)

Thomas-Monks wrote on 4/18/2022, 6:15 PM

Greetings !

I'm trying to fit the text in the ribbon of the graphic (Chief Solono Kennel Club).

I tried Tiny Planet, but that won't work because the text needs to be VERY small to match the slight ribbon curve.

Although this is not the final graphic (I may need to make the ribbon grey slightly darker to get nice contrast. Any Suggestions ??? The text may need to be also stretched, etc. to have a nice fit... and of course brighten the gold a bit...lol

Thanks,

Tom

why not create the text in your graphic program? if you need to animate it, save it as a separate graphic.

Try Vegas Pro 16's VEGAS Deform VFX adjusting the Amount, Top and Bottom sliders under both Squeeze and Curve. Then put the title on to its own track and use Track Motion for positioning (V, H, zoom and rotate) over the ribbon and, as well, then fine-tune the Deform settings to create the best fit. The following was done in VP19 but will be the same in VP16:

Photoshop, 10 minutes (including coffee).

The banner is not equal height, appears to have been done freehand.

I was able to place it with deform and pan/crop in my VMS16P

Yep, I'm too cheap to pay for photoshop...I do everything in vegas...lol

Yep it was indeed donefreehand... the last of hand-created art.

Thomas, 100% free Photoshop is called Gimp.

@Thomas-Monks I'll second that, for the price GIMP is an excellent program 👍

Thanks Everyone !!! Well, since this situation happens sometimes...it looks like I'm learning to be a GIMP ! LOL

Thomas-Monks wrote on 4/21/2022, 10:32 AM

Well, Gimp is kinda pain in the a33... it doesn't even have built-in outline and shadow functions...crazy. I was able to complete the project using Vegas advice here. It will take some time to get better with Gimp. Here's the final project. It's a quick 20-second open to a round at the dog show, i.e. Kennel Club. The show is pirate themed. Sincere thanks, Tom.

@Thomas-Monks Well done! I also favour to use the tools Vegas offers to complete a task.

Former user wrote on 4/21/2022, 10:50 AM

@Thomas-Monks Yep it does, there's a couple of ways to do it, right click the thumbnail, Alpha to selection, Select tab - Grow selection then drop a colour to a new Layer, or Alpha to selection & just use the Border option,

& there's Shadow options
