Guys, bicubic or bilinear affects only when footage is resized during render isn't it? If I don't check "adjust media to project settings" in settings - is there any difference on best and good rendering settings?
I've read that before posting, I did the search. I just do not understand does it affects rescaling only or pan\crop also? If i do no video size changes and no don't check "adjust media to project settings" in settings - is there any difference on best and good rendering settings - as Best takes 20%+ of render time.
Pan/Crop resamples the same way as changing the image scale: bicubic or bilinear. Track Motion is worse because it works at project resolution.
The first time you have to render a big project twice because it was left on Good, you will appreciate the sense of leaving it on Best for all new projects. Have you actually tested that 20% figure?
I had a 59:07 (SS:ff) UHD project that I cropped into the frame to 1920x1080 to do a close-up on a subject. I added a perverse amount of Track Motion just to complicate things and rendered to MC DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream and MC AVC Internet 1080p. Here are the results:
Set your Project Properties to Best and move on with your life.
Do you own tests. Shoot some trees in the wind with small leaves, or water rippling with highlights. Then compare the render results on the fine details.
If you are changing resolutions, I would render to an intermediate format like cineform, prores, or xavc-i. Then take that footage and run it through handbrake that uses a better scaler.
These type of questions are best asked when the op lists the entire workflow from camera to final screen.
