Hello all:
Thanks in advance for any guidance. I have searched for a day trying to come up with a solution and thought I would throw it out to our crew here.
I create clips for the web at a strange size of 640 X 600. Source footage is 1920 x 1080.
Project is set at 640 x 600 which brings it to near square, then a track based crop is applied in same ratio, which means that we are simply utilizing a portion of the full video frame.
Often, clips contain children who move around in a chair a lot, and the client desires as tight a crop as possible.
* Red dots placed to mask child ID. Has nothing to do with editing process.
I am an experienced Vegas Pro editor since v7 (now on v15). I understand how one could use manually place keyframes to track and center the child from left to right in the above example.
However, movement is constant and I deal with this on an ongoing basis so I am looking to find an automated solution to basically keep the child roughly centered (there is a lot of room on either side).
It seems as though there are a lot of solutions for more complex issues such as multi-layering track motion to keep titles or PIP in place but I am not finding a solution to automatically nudge the crop to keep it centered.
Perhaps I am using the wrong search terms. What would this process be called exactly?
Any ideas on how to do this either track or event based?
I'd want it to look like this:
thanks much in advance, Paul
