For developers: Raw CinemaDNG support in VP15 and 16? And 8K?

Yes, I still think its all about the cores in VP with say 4K. @Dawn32 I do know that in the past people have/would say that VP is not a media player in response to this slower playback than say a media player that has to only do one thing very well, as against an NLE, which has to do many things.

Maybe VP can in the future be better optimised for better playback also.

Anyway, maybe instead of looking for CinemaDng native support in VP we should be looking for the new Blackmagic Raw Codec support in the future, announced today.

If the PC has enough power to run next-gen games in UHD-4K in High and Ultra settings smoothly, and it can play 4K videos smoothly in the player and from YouTube, than it obviously and definitely has enough power to play 4K videos smoothly through NLE. So it probably is all about software code optimization in Vegas Pro.

And, as far as I remember, one of the main marketing points of Vegas Pro (my favorite and beloved NLE so far) are how Fast and Multiformat it is. So it should probably live up to the expectations, i.e. be fast and support all important codecs, including both CinemaDNG Raw AND the new Blackmagic Raw Codec.

@Dawn32 Well, VP does support a lot of different codecs already, here’s hoping that they will go for the BM raw in the future.

Hi....the Sigma fp cameras don't exceed 4K. Besides any resolution should be possible with cDNG. It doesn't say anything in the format specification about 4K as a limit. Where did you get the idea that using cDNG prevents people from exceeding 4K? Are you talking about the fact that the Blackmagic cameras are limited to 4K if you want cDNG recording capability, because they only offer their 6K camera with their proprietary file format?

@HoltRead

I'm sure that you didn't notice you had necro-posted. In fact, >4k support didn't come to Vegas until a year after the previous comment. Welcome to the forum.
