Rendering before multicam

Chris-Harwood wrote on 12/31/2018, 3:19 PM

Is there a way to render (bounce) within ONE video track, the FX that are on the track...specifically pan and cropping, so that when enabling the track for multicam, the envelopes, etc are not lost? IOW. do I have to render a single track first to get my desired cropping, and then bring that rendered file back into the project (while deleting the original), so it can then be used in multicam? I'm trying to avoid rendering all the "edited" tracks individually, before I render a final multicam track. Or is this a two step process.....render the individual tracks first, then using those new rendered tracks in a (new?) multicam project...I can then render the final multicam track?

Hoping to make sense with my question. In audio, it would be like "bouncing tracks" or premixing tracks, before a final mixdown.

You could apply those crops and fX to the clips and save as a Vegas project. Then “nest” that project in your multicam project instead of the original clip. That method will be profoundly resource intensive.

You can render to another track.

I always render to another track to preserve the original takes.

Render to another track is what I'm looking for. Will have to investigate rendering to a track versus a file location. That works.

You could also try the RenderEvents tool in HappyOtterScripts which was designed specifically for what you want to do. In addition to rendering to a new track, you can also add the rendered event back to the original track as a Take. Also lots of options of which Fx to keep and codecs to use for rendering. Here's a screen shot.

to say the least, HOS looks intriguing! Once out of beta, wonder what the costs might be, etc, etc...?

Not to speak for the developer, but I believe that is all TBD.

I sure appreciate the effort, and i hope returns will be able to support the maintenance and education necessary to make it sustainable.
