Unlink audio track from video

John-Quandt wrote on 10/13/2021, 11:45 PM

In version 16, I was able to unlink the audio from the video track by pressing U. I did this primarily for audio tracks that got out of sync with the video. I could select the audio track and slip it until sync was restored. In version 19, that no longer applies. The audio track stays connected to the video track.

Have you already tried a reset?

I uninstalled all versions of Vegas and reinstalled V19. Ungrouping still doesn't work. Tried a reset, but it didn't run.

Has your 'U' key shortcut been inadvertently changed or removed. Try the 'Remove from group' in the main menu. Does the global "Ignore event grouping" work?

John-Quandt wrote on 10/14/2021, 8:44 PM

This didn't work, either. I did notice the ability to fade an audio track also doesn't work.

This worked for me in version 16, but my install of version 19 has this broken, along with some other features. I need tech support on what to delete and reset.

Unable to reproduce. Is your track locked or something?

John-Quandt wrote on 10/14/2021, 9:11 PM

My Vegas 19 is corrupted. (This was after uninstalling and reinstalling 19.) I reinstalled Vegas 16, and it still works fine.

Assuming it is not a bug and other folks do not experience the same behavior, you might try uninstall / reinstall again, but uninstall using a third-party uninstaller like 'Revo Uninstall' that can also remove left-over registry entries and other pertinent data the default Windows uninstall leaves behind, which in usually the root of recurring issues.
Revo Uninstall has both pro, freeware and portable versions. The freeware version is usually adequate. The pro version has additional tools like 'advanced scan' and 'forced uninstall', which you probably will not need.

Tried Revo Uninstaller and completely removed and reinstalled 19. Unlink still doesn't actually unlink.

If you right click the audio file, choose Group, what is the keyboard command listed next to "remove from" in the group menu?

John-Quandt wrote on 10/15/2021, 2:15 PM

U. If I select it or type u, the group panel greys out. If I then unselect the track and just select either the audio track or the video track, they still move together as linked.

Pressing u doesn't work for me in v20, but U does. Couldn't find it in the shortcut section of the help files either, but that might just be me :)
