@John-McKean AFAIK. I think you should be able to render out to FHD 16:9 using non square pixels, change your Project properties to PAR of 1.333, or render settings to match.
@John-McKean Ok, I just now changed the render template "frame size" to HDV 1080 (1440 x 1080) and it renders out aok to 1440 x 1080 AR of 1.333. Source is HDV 1440 x 1080 AR of 1.333.
Am using VP17 to test as this old project is in VP17. Tested on VP18 now, same good result.
It's strange, the first project I did with these video files rendered out fine at 1440 4:3, and the second project with the same source file and settings now I can't get it to render do 1440 and 4:3 aspect ratio. Even when I put another 1440 file in the first project that rendered out correctly, it still renders out 16:9 at a lower resolution. it will render out correctly to 1080 when I choose 1080 16:9 codec but that's not the original file spec or ratio. Attached is the video file specs
@John-McKean The "Allow source to adjust frame size" in the render template will cause you to have odd output frame sizes. When I use that for a 1440 x 1080 output it becomes 1648 x 928 = AR of 1.78.
@John-McKean Well, with those data rates and frame rates, your source is not standard HDV for sure. The internal settings of Display Aspect Ratio might be different. Anyway here is a sample "Mediainfo" screenshot of standard HDV footage.
Can you supply similar using the "Mediainfo" Util.
all other attempts failed. How best to get you a downloaded sample?
@John-McKean I use dropbox, there are other options of course. When you upload the file give a link here. I originally assumed because of the frame size that it was HDV, but it’s obviously not. Maybe we can recreate the issue and supply a fix to the output using the source test clip.
