@John-McKean I thought of this earlier, it's a kinda desperate remedy, but. Use you project that does work, while active, select all media and then delete. Then try loading and rendering a new piece of media.
If it works then continue. If you had a lot of media in the 2nd. project, load both projects then copy and paste all from the 2nd. to the 1st. empty working project.
Thanks JN for the ideas and I will try them. I did try and load the exact same media file that worked the first time directly next to itself on the same timeline and it had the same error rendering but then tried to render again the first media file and it rendered fine
I checked the clip against itself... that is the strange thing. The first rendering worked fine then the follow on renderings did not work but the first rendering file continues to work fine
I don't think so JN because my initial file rendered perfectly and still does, it's just the follow9-on files did not. I think maybe something is corrupted in my codex files

@John-McKean Maybe that's it, no harm to check if there is any difference in the Mediainfo of the other files, though it may not show up there.
The only other idea that I can think of is, convert/transcode all files to Prores HQ in VP18, then use the Prores files on the timeline and see if you can get the output of 1440 x1080. Obviously try just a few first. The Prores files work well in VP and you should see no loss really in quality.
Ok, the problem with that is that I don't see how to get Prores to select 18 fps, but you could choose 24 fps.
Thanks for all the insight and ideas JN, I was thinking last night about it the fact that the one instance of the video rendered correctly and when I put the same instance of the video next to it it didn't render so it has to do with something with how I changed that particular instance a video in the timeline. I remembered I did do something different do it to change the aspect ratio of the file that renders correctly . here's what I did under Fx pan/crop to change aspect ratio.
