Vegas Content gives me copyright claim on YouTube

Illusion wrote on 10/19/2021, 7:09 AM

Some of the audio I got from Vegas Content give me copyright claim on YouTube, see below.

As I said, it is only some of them, not all. Apart from uploading a sample of each song in advance on YouTube to find out if it has a copyright or not, is there an easier way to know directly from Vegas Hub if the content is copyright free or not?

If you bought the content directly from Storyblocks , you need to provide your YT channel ID to them to avoid copyright, and that makes sense. If Vegas is buying the content from Storyblocks, then you would think Magix should be asking for a YT channel ID when the Vegas customer buys?

Otherwise how does Storyblocks know you are licensed

RogerS wrote on 10/19/2021, 7:44 AM

This is the EULA I found for Vegas Content. It's not clear how to report you are authorized to the provider, Storyblocks, though.

Happens all the time -- they file hundreds of claims in hopes that one will stick -- purely bogus.

fr0sty wrote on 10/19/2021, 2:54 PM

It should work the same way, contact storyblocks, tell them you are a VEGAS content subscriber, and give them your channel ID.

RogerS wrote on 10/19/2021, 9:46 PM

Do you know how to contact Storyblocks re: copyright claims?

Their API makes it look as if this is something the program (Vegas?) can embed:

Update your YouTube Channel ID and we should be able to remove most claims automatically in less than 30 minutes with no further action required by you! Need help finding your YouTube channel ID? Please click here.

Years ago, I put a video of a metronome on YT, and some joker put a copyright claim on it.

john-brown wrote on 10/19/2021, 10:24 PM

@Illusion

Hi,

This is most likely a scam. You should dispute this, and raise a ticket with Vegas, and notify Storyblocks that Haawk for a 3rd party is making copyright strikes on music that is not theirs. As far as I know, there is no way for us mortals to complain to YT about these things, but Storyblocks and Vegas Creative Software should be able to.

See this:

HAAWK for a 3rd Party - YouTube Copyright Claims - Hook Sounds Copyright Scam - Bing video

and this:

where Haawk is claiming a musical genre, as far as the young fellow can tell.

There are other complaints about these guys; I suggest you Google them to see.

Here is another video about Haawk and how to dispute or not dispute the claim. Read some of the comments and you'll see others getting false claims from Haawk. Note the one about the guy who replaced the music with other music that he was sure was safe and Haawk came right back and claimed that too. They should be shut down.

Storyblocks uses HAAWK,

  • Some of our content is monitored in Content ID by our partners AdRev and HAAWK. Add your YouTube ID to your Storyblocks account and you will be added to the allowlist for both companies.

Only a problem would exist if Vegas aren't use Storyblocks for their stock content @john-brown

While it's clear that Vegas Content is a subset of Storyblocks based on the EULA above, the problem is as Vegas Content users we don't have Storyblocks accounts. So where do we add the channel ID?

john-brown wrote on 10/20/2021, 7:59 AM

@Former user

Hi,

Thank you for the information. However, based on the links that I gave, it appears that Haawk is going way beyond legitimate copyright strikes. If such is the case, then Storyblocks should avoid using Haawk.

Thanks everyone, this is all good information so far but the question remains, how do a Vegas subscriber tells Storyblocks he is a legitimate user, where to add the channel ID.

I would expect someone from Vegas to chime in.

The license for Vegas Content posted above says:

Also, this License allowed you to use our audio clips in YouTube videos,
but since we are not associated with YouTube, we cannot prevent other people from incorrectly claiming that your video violates a copyright. If you get such a claim, let us know, and we will make our best efforts to help you resolve the problem. Still, platforms like YouTube could block your content for reasons beyond our control

Don't be dismayed if it isn't acted on for a couple of years...

Actually YouTube disputes and potential subsequent appeals each have a 30-day deadline. If the claimant ("copyright holder") does not respond within that time frame, their claim is released and you're good to go.

If you need to attached the EULA, just find file EULA in VEGAS Pro Program Files folder, then upload it to your google drive or dropbox etc... then share the link in the YouTube message.

I have tested it on one of my videos and the dispute release process done very quickly.

I am glad if this is now the case. It took almost exactly one year for a meaningless claim over my recording of a metronome to be resolved.
