I looked at my latest OBS captures and it uses constant frame rate , but I recall the default used to be variable frame rate. I read on this forum that vegas doesn't like vfr. check if obs captures are VFR, and if so change settings to CFR

Sorry,

I have misread this.

I Use;

Vegas 17.0 Build 284

Windows 10

OBS For recording gameplay

YouTube is the destination of the finished video

Symptoms; Application is very slow and the preview screen is very clunky, laggy and jumps frames not only when watching but also when trying to watch a section of the video to see if it looks the way i want it to.

@Jack-Blythe

Sometimes, in order to get the information we require to help you, it is necessary to spell things out one at a time. This is one of those times.

OBS Studio is a preferred, and usually trouble-free capture utility, recommended by both users and moderators of Vegas Pro.

In order to help you sort this out, please, one more time, go to this link:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/

Instead of trivializing the instructions, kindly provide all of the information requested in Section B and Section C. That is only for starters!

Please try to be patient with your peers, because we do not have crystal balls to see into your system. With the correct information, however, we are pretty good with troubleshooting, because we are familiar with both Vegas Pro and OBS Studio used together.

Welcome to the forums.

how do i do this?

Go to My Products on your Vegas Pro My Account and download the small installer - once downloaded clicking on that should install the latest build.

Or go to:

https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/product-downloads/

Either way, the installation process will involve a registration/activation check as part of the process.

You are using a total wrong project format.
All used files has to be decoded and then altered to another framerate that is interlaced. Further I saw saw strange figures in your MediaInfo:
"Bit rate                                 : 111 Mb/s
Maximum bit rate                         : 40.0 Mb/s"

To set your properies the right way for this project: Go to the Projectproperties, select the button Match Media Video settings and choose the used OBS file.

Normally, the should have all the same resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate.

I'm curious as to how much system RAM is being used when he adds those gigs of files to the Vegas timeline.

@Jack-Blythe after you load your project on the timeline, open Taskmanager and take a screen shot of how much RAM is being used.

I have 32GB and have a 2 minute 1080 50P project on the timeline (with lots of assets in Bins), and I am at almost 6GB of RAM being used.
