Thanks Gid. It doesn't want to seem to install for me...maybe something I am doing. Will keep trying.

hmm, are you on Windows 10? maybe/hopefully this is this the problem it not being included for whatever reason, knowing what the problem is is often half the challenge 👍 we'll see eh. best of luck 👍

Had Windows 10....upgraded to Windows 11

Former user wrote on 12/6/2021, 7:30 PM

Ah, i've read Windows 11 is a bit of a prick,

from the few bits i've read about HEIF & Windows 11 not using it, it doesn't sound good 😒

but if Image sequence is in other Windows 11 users ...

Former user wrote on 12/6/2021, 7:40 PM

I watched a vid

I did a bit more research where to find this HEIF thing & apparently it shows in Apps, so had a look & i've got it, i didn't download it, it is just there 🤷‍♂️

It might not be this fix but it's a Microsoft free download so don't think it would be too bad to try? 🤷‍♂️

@j-v Your signature says you have Windows 11 on your desktop, do you have Image sequence in the render options?

Former user wrote on 12/6/2021, 7:53 PM

@SLVideo Can you play HEVC files on your PC?, there seems to be a bit of a link between HEIF & HEVC, most of what i can find is related to playing/viewing these files tho 🤷‍♂️

I think you should fill in your Signature in your Profile, that's the first time in this post you've mentioned your on Windows11 😉👍

Ok just asking

SLVideo wrote on 12/7/2021, 10:51 AM

Ok....this is what I found. HEIF does not show up under Apps and Features. HEVC does show up under Apps and Features. The Microsoft Store shows that HEIF and HEVC are both installed. See screenshots.

However I still do not have the Image Sequence option.

Former user wrote on 12/7/2021, 11:04 AM

@SLVideo Sorry i don't know then & the one person with Windows11 who could help is holding out with crap 4 word answers 😒

SLVideo wrote on 12/7/2021, 11:23 AM

I appreciate the help @Former user. I have a ticket submitted, they just asked for some additional info....if I get a solution I will post it here to help someone else who may have a problem out. Thanks again.

I have mentioned this previously...

We have received sporadic reports of this problem over several years. We have yet to have found the source of the issue. The image sequence codec is based off of a Windows component, so we suspect it is due to an issue with how VEGAS tries to access this component, however we have not been able to reproduce the problem locally. Contacting support is exactly what we would suggest so we can grab as much data as possible to help us finally diagnose the problem.

SLVideo wrote on 12/7/2021, 11:37 AM

@VEGASDerek Yes I agree. They contacted me yesterday to supplied them my msinfo32 information in a text file and I did that yesterday.

As I recall this happened to me too when I installed V19. I exited and opened V18 to be sure it was still there (it was) and when I opened V19 again image sequences were available.

Correction: it was V18 not 19:

@3d87c4...This is my first Vegas Pro software. Before that I had Movie Studio 16 Platinum. I checked both and neither have the Image Sequence option. I never noticed not having the Image Sequence option before in either version. It was only now when I am trying to establish a workflow where I needed the Image Sequence option that I noticed it was missing in both.

Former user wrote on 12/7/2021, 2:59 PM

@SLVideo @VEGASDerek now you have VP19 are you allowed to install VP18? maybe it'll give 19 a kick 🤷‍♂️😂

Bummer. What I did seems like voodoo to me...it made no sense but worked. Maybe you should go render an image sequence in Movie Studio (assuming it's still on your computer) and see if that fixes it.

I suspect it's as suggested in a prior post---a windows quirk and maybe getting to work in one program resolves windows' issue?

@SLVideo

Show me a couple of screens if you have time:

  • Right-click on This PC, Properties, and scroll down and post your active Windows version; e.g., 20H2
  • In Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, post you installed updates.
SLVideo wrote on 12/9/2021, 1:59 PM

@Musicvid Here are the screen shots.

I'm just thinking, with all of the overreaching security updates we had on Windows 10, it might be a blocked service module. I'm sure you've already checked to be sure you are running Vegas with Administrator privileges. Beyond that, I have no idea how to troubleshoot Windows 11 security scans, but do let us know what you and the Vegas team come up with.

VEGASDerek wrote on 12/9/2021, 2:31 PM

We are trying a few things with the next update to see if we can resolve this problem.

SLVideo wrote on 12/9/2021, 2:33 PM

@VEGASDerek Awesome...thank you...I'll be looking forward to that update.

SLVideo wrote on 12/20/2021, 12:35 PM

@VEGASDerek....fyi....Just installed the latest update build 458....still have the same issue and tech support has not responded. Initially they needed some info and files from me....but since then its been quite.

shankar wrote on 1/4/2022, 3:54 PM

@SLVideo  We are still actively investigating this issue. Since we could not reproduce this behavior internally, we are trying few more things and adding more logging information to find the root cause of the failure.
