VEGAS PRO16 5,7K 5760x2880 360 rendering settings - 4096x4096 Limit

This was posted on CC and I felt it needed to be represented here too. This post represents the lingering need to update Vegas resolution capabilities to something more like 16384x16384, just to keep Vegas relevant in todays market and push the envelope a little into the future. Evidently the other Magix NLE supports larger resolutions but the UI is not as good.

Hi Guys
We purchased Vegas Pro16 Update to day on Black Friday to an affordable price
Mostly because the Pro now can edit and render 360 Video

360 Video are 2:1 size type: 4K 3840x1920 it can be set as custom Size in H264 AVC and H265 HEVC
but are there any tips or way around for 5,7K 5760x2880 rendering settings

in CyberLink PowerDirector16 and 17 (64-bit) you can override the Profile.ini

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\16.0\UserConfigure

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\17.0\UserConfigure

and here after you can easily Render 5,7 K video

Wonder if you can do something like this,

Regards Svendus

Ultimately, the highest possible resolution is determined by the encoder, not "necessarily" by the encoding application.

That said, what combination of devices will you use to play 6K 360, and how will that be a better experience for the viewer than 4K 360?

While I agree with you Musicvid. I think Vegas development should be keeping in step with YouTube at least, if that is their bread and butter these days. Not even asking for anything professional grade here.

This from YouTube's help on uploading 360 videos:

Step 1: Create the video

There are many 360° cameras that are compatible with YouTube and are available today.

For the best results, encode your video at a high resolution and according to YouTube's advanced specifications. YouTube currently supports 360° videos with 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, or 60 frames per second. We recommend uploading  360 videos (equirectangular format with a 2:1 aspect ratio) at a resolution of 7168x3584 or higher, up to 8192x4096.

You can also create 360° videos using custom camera rigs and third party stitching software, such as Kolor Autopano.

I also bought the Insta360 One X and can't believe there's a 4K limit in Vegas PRO!?.  Seriously wrong.

Could we please remove this dumb restriction... PLEASE?

Very much doubt it's just a "dumb restriction." Rather, likely a limitation of the current architecture that may (or may not) be difficult to extend. For those that "need" it I think the question for the developers is this: "is greater than 4k output resolution likely to be implemented in the near future?"

@Kinvermark … you may be right. As a career sw developer I normally take the numbers entered from input fields (like res values for Hor and Ver) and allocate memory appropriately. But in this case, since 4096 is a hard limit, there may be underlying architecture issues.

Point is... I hate going back to Premiere Pro (which everybody its touting on YouTube) for 5.7K 360 editing when Vegas Pro works so well in all other respects. 😬

You are probably aware of this, but...

For "normal" stills and video, the 4k limit does not apply to input just for output. i.e., you can put a 40 mpix still image on your timeline if you want.

For 360 media this may work differently; I have no experience with this.
