Video & Audio problem

Hi, I am fairly new at sony vegas so I am hoping to get some help. I recently purchased a GoPro Hero 6. And when I import footage that has been captured in 4k 60fps for 2.7k 120fps onto Sony Vegas Pro 14, the video lags and the worst part is the audio which is completely distorted, crackly and static sort of. Whereas when I import footage recorded at lower FPS (4k 24fps for example) it plays completely fine on Sony Vegas 14. I looked for solutions online and when I convert the file to mpeg-2, it plays completely fine on sony vegas but some quality is lost in the process. I am hoping someone here has a solution where I can just directly import the footage and edit it immediately on Sony vegas 14 version 14.0

GoPro can be tough to preview on your system.

Digital intermediates people use here include xavc-I, cineform, dnxhr, and more. Search.

I'm not sure what formats the HERO6 shoots. MediaInfo will confirm that it's HEVC or not. If it's actually AVC/H.264 then the advice will be different. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Thanks. Unfortunately to get correct audio and decent performance in Vegas you're almost certainly going to have to convert that footage as per the links in my first post in this thread.

Might shoot some at 60p and see if it has a modest effect on timeline performance.
