Video preview doesn't come aligned in different preview resolution

keshav wrote on 12/20/2017, 9:23 AM

Im using Sony Vegas Pro 14 for a while now and nothing like this has happened before.

I started editing using the preview option Draft(Quarter). I finished editing, but then when I tried to render in 1080p, 720p etc, the edit is not coming aligned. Then i cancelled the render and i tried switching preview mode to Good(Quarter) and the edit is again misaligned. I will attach some screenshots and if more data is needed, i can provide it but please resolve this i have never got anything like this. This video is to be uploaded to youtube. I have also matched the project properties with the media file.

In draft(quarter) preview: https://prnt.sc/hq3mb0

In good(best) preview: https://prnt.sc/hq3np8

While rendering(in Internet HD 1080p): http://prntscr.com/hq3p68

Project properties: https://prnt.sc/hq3rj0

Thanks!

By “aligned”, do you mean that the text is not centered in the preview window?

Have you or Microsoft changed your video card driver card lately?

It indicates you are rendering to a 1920 x 1080 project from a 1280 x 720 project. May not be the problem but is there a reason you are upscaling when you render?

I dont know what is a video card driver, sorry

Yes, you are right, the text isnt centered in the preview window. its not only the text, but the whole edit.

Not sure, this is the resolution that i usually render my videos in. If you can suggest me to try some other render setting then yes, maybe my render settings is the problem.

Start in a project that is the same size as your output.

keshav wrote on 12/20/2017, 10:06 AM

If you always render in FHD it is better to change also your projectsettings to Full HD because the Media Generators have the projectsettings and not your changed rendersettings.

But its not only the media generators, but also the edit that is misaligned. Im not only using media generators, im using 720p clips

tried it, i dont think it works

to add to that, i tried to render in Internet HD 720p which is the same resolution as the project but its not working

Yes, it does work.

The generated media and text you put in "inherits" the positioning of the starting project.

If the project doesn't change, neither does the positioning. Really, it seems that simple.

Could you explain a bit more briefly, what I can do to fix the problem?

Musicvid wrote on 12/20/2017, 10:22 AM

START with a project that are the same dimensions as your output will be.

Do not change render or project resolution once you have added any generated media!

Heres a screenshot of the project im editing, not generated media but the project in 2 different preview resolutions

Good(quarter): https://prnt.sc/hq4mi7

Draft(quarter): https://prnt.sc/hq4p0l

What is shown in Draft(quarter) is what i want

see. the project media is 720p and the render setting is also internet hd 720p so isnt it the same res at start and end?

Try turning off hardware acceleration. Does that make a difference?

keshav wrote on 12/20/2017, 10:38 AM

idk how to do that, i checked tutorials online, not helping

Never do any scaling or positioning while preview is set to draft. On your screenshot above preview set to good looks same as while rendering. So I think that should have solved your problem already. Ensure a proper preview setting (and also project settings).

I'd also recommend using preview setting good or best with full scale instead of quarter like you did. Then you may also set the preview to scale the video.

So now I have to do it all over again?

I'd say it depends on how it looks like when you set your preview to "Best (Full)" with scaling (right-click menu) enabled. If this does not look the way intended: Redo!

Hi

Thanks to everyone who helped but the problem was that i added sony displacement mapp and forgot to turn something on so it wasnt a problem with the resolution, it was an effect. Thanks!

It didn't work..

DID U USE ANY DISPLACEMENT MAP IN UR VIDEO? IF SO,

1. OPEN WHERE U PLACED IT
2. EDGE PIXEL HANDLING , CHOOSE 'WRAP PIXELS AROUND'
3. TICK THE ALPHA CHANNEL SCALES RGB CHANNELS

DONE

IT WORKED!!!, IM SO THANKFUL OR I HAVE TO REDO FROM SCRAP WHICH TOOK 4-5 HOURS OF EDITING ...
